You may want to overclock your computer to have it operating at optimum performance. This is a good idea because you will have a faster computer and it will also be very cost effective. However, overclocking will generate a lot of heat due to the extra power that is being forced through the processor. The increased frequency also contributes to the heat since there are more cycles per second. Overclocking causes the processor to overheat and can affect other components such as the motherboard. To prevent this from happening, it is important to buy a cooler for your CPU. An aftermarket cooler is recommended for computers which generate too much heat with or without overclocking. There are plenty of aftermarket CPU air coolers in the market and you can be confused on which one to buy. Here are two of the best CPU air coolers.
The Noctua NH-D15
The Noctua NH-D15 is an incredible air cooler with a pair of 140 mm fans which keep the air flowing in between its radiators. The NH-D15 has six aluminum heat pipes which transmit heat to twin aluminum radiators on the cooler. The fan allows airflow over the radiators hence reducing the heat of your CPU. The cooler is optimized for use in low noise environments and can also be used on a low-temperature CPU. This makes it a viable option if you want your PC to run quietly no matter what you are doing on it.
Manually controlled fans
The fans are manually controlled meaning that you can increase or decrease the fan speed. Another advantage is that the airflow generated is enough to keep all other components cool. The disadvantage with this model is it is bulky and you will need to find space for it.
Cooler Master V8 GTS
The Cooler Master V8 GTS is a beast that has 8 high-performance heat pipes to direct heat way from your processor and ultimately the PC. It incorporates the ground-breaking technology of a vapor chamber. The “Cooler Master Horizontal Vapor Chamber Technology” ensures that all the heat spreads evenly to the heat pipes. This helps in reducing hot spots in the CPU. This is a problem facing most air coolers. Reducing hot spots which damage a computer’s components has been one obstacle to creating efficient coolers. The Cooler Master V8 GTS also has a heat sink with three towers. This not only cools the heat pipes but has been designed to optimum standards and takes away all the heat from the heat pipes. It also has a pair of fans with LED lights.
Advantage of the Cooler Master
One big advantage of the cooler master is the vapor chamber. It greatly helps in cooling all areas of the CPU. The Cooler Master also has a universal mounting system which makes it compatible for use with all Intel and AMD platforms.
I want to thank the guys over at Computer and Ink Store – Computer Repair Pacific Beach shop for allowing me to use their computers to test out several air coolers. When choosing an air cooler just remember that not everyone will need the best air cooler available in the market. One thing is for sure, any aftermarket air cooler is better than and OEM air cooler. Do your research and figure out how much cooling you really need. Thing to consider is how much you plan on overclocking, how much air flow is in your case, how much you have to spend, and also if the air cooler can actually fit. Many times tall RAM will limit to which cooler you can install on your computer. If you plan on going for a more extreme cooling solution, you might want to consider a custom water-cooled system.
